Conceptual visualisation

One airframe family, adapted to the mission

Our unmanned systems work is focused on modular, lightweight aircraft for long-endurance operation. The programme explores how a single airframe family can be adapted to different roles through changes in structure, configuration, payload and mission equipment.

The intention is not to build one aircraft for one use case. The longer-term goal is a platform that can evolve with the mission — and with the operator's requirements — without starting again each time.

Mission areas under development

  • Long-endurance operations
  • Maritime observation
  • Infrastructure monitoring
  • Emergency response
  • Environmental surveillance
  • Communications support

These are the roles the airframe family is being designed around. Endurance, range, payload and configuration details are still being developed and are not published here.

Engineering approach

From airframe to mission system

Our work covers more than the outer geometry of the aircraft. An unmanned system has to be built, handled, maintained and operated by real crews, and each of those stages shapes the design.

Structural design
Airframe structure developed around the loads, the mission profile and the need to reconfigure the aircraft between roles.
Composite manufacturing
Lightweight structures designed with manufacturing in mind from the start, drawing on ACE's background in composite production.
Aerodynamics and propulsion integration
Aerodynamic studies and propulsion integration treated as part of the same design problem as the structure, not as separate exercises.
Modularity and payload accommodation
Interfaces for payloads and mission equipment considered early, so that role changes remain practical rather than theoretical.
Ground handling and operational practicality
Assembly, transport, launch, recovery and field maintenance shape the concept as much as flight performance does.

The programme is under development. Dimensions, performance figures and configuration details will be shared with qualified partners under appropriate agreements, not published here.
