Close view of a protected vehicle's transparent armour windscreen and its bolted frame, with modular protection panels along the hull.

Capabilities · Transparent Protection

Clear sight. Full protection.

Transparent structures engineered as complete systems, not simply thicker glazing.

A different engineering challenge

Transparent protection has to remain clear while dealing with impact, environmental exposure, mounting loads, edge stresses and long-term service conditions. Optical quality, structural performance and durability have to be achieved at the same time, in the same assembly.

That makes the frame, interlayer, sealing and support system as important as the transparent material itself. Much of ACE's development work in this area is focused on how these elements behave together.

Applications under development

  • Protected vehicles
  • Operator protection
  • Industrial safety
  • Observation points
  • Critical facilities

In every one of these settings the person behind the structure still needs an unobstructed view. That requirement sets the shape of the engineering.

Engineering approach

More than a transparent panel

A transparent protective system is a complete engineered assembly. The glazing, support structure, frame, sealing, mounting and replacement strategy have to work together — and each has to be designed knowing what the others will do under load and over time.

Glazing and interlayer
The transparent element itself, developed for clarity, impact behaviour and environmental stability.
Frame and support structure
The structure that carries the glazing and transfers loads into the surrounding vehicle, enclosure or building.
Edge, sealing and mounting
Edge conditions and seals are where transparent structures most often fail in service; they are designed with the same care as the panel.
Replacement strategy
A damaged transparent element has to be assessed and exchanged safely and quickly, so replacement is planned from the start.

Laminate construction, thicknesses and mounting details are not published. Requirements-specific information is shared with qualified partners under agreement.
